Scamacca’s asking about the Giallorossi

With preparations for the new season underway, Roma’s vision under Gian Piero Gasperini is beginning to take shape. Even as activity around the club’s training center quiets during the summer break, the real work continues behind the scenes. Discussions over contract renewals, transfer strategy, preseason logistics, and squad planning are all part of a broader effort to build a team capable of competing at the highest level.

Central to that vision is the desire to create a side defined by aggression, intensity, and direct attacking football — characteristics long associated with Gasperini’s teams. And among the names most strongly linked to that project is Gianluca Scamacca.

The connection between the manager and the striker is not new. Gasperini has admired Scamacca for some time, and there were already attempts in the past to bring the forward into Roma’s orbit. Now, however, circumstances may be more favorable. Roma’s return to the Champions League has changed both the club’s ambitions and its financial flexibility, while Scamacca himself is eager to reestablish himself as a leading figure after an inconsistent period.

Meanwhile, changes are unfolding at Atalanta. The club’s significant investment in Nikola Krstovic signals a growing emphasis on refreshing its attacking department, potentially opening the door for movement elsewhere in the squad. With Scamacca still under contract until 2027, no decision appears imminent, but uncertainty surrounding his future continues to fuel speculation. It’s being reported that Scamacca is calling his friends on Roma to ask about the current situation.

What makes the possibility particularly intriguing is how Scamacca could fit into Roma’s evolving attack. Alongside Donyell Malen, he would offer a different but complementary profile — combining physical strength, pace, vertical movement, and finishing ability. Whether deployed together or rotated depending on the opponent, the pairing could give Roma a more dynamic and unpredictable frontline.

Behind them, Paulo Dybala would remain the creative centerpiece, linking play and providing the imagination needed to unlock defenses. In theory, the combination offers balance: power and penetration ahead of artistry and invention.

For now, much remains uncertain, but the direction is becoming increasingly clear. Roma are not simply searching for reinforcements; they are trying to assemble a team built around a distinct identity. And if the club succeeds in bringing together the profiles it desires, the foundations for an ambitious new era could soon be in place.
