Update on the Roma squads renewals and expiring contracts

Gian Piero Gasperini

Gian Piero Gasperini is now the captain of the ship that is AS Roma. Since his confirmation for the 2026/27 season he’s making his thoughts on who are his players that he trusts to achieve the clubs goals for the upcoming season.

According to Lorenzo Pas of Il Tempo, Gasperini has clear ideas of who should be extended, renewed, and let go this summer.

Starting with his former pupils from Atalanta, Gianluca Mancini and Bryan Cristante, Gasperini is in favour of keeping them as part of his core and all that’s waiting for their extensions is their signatures.

Donyell Malen is a certainty to be brought back with the 25m clause to be purchased this summer and will surely be one of the first names on the team sheet going forward.

Mario Hermoso has also earned the trust of the manager and an extension is being worked on to spread his salary out.

Paulo Dybala has given his priority to staying in the capital with a return to Argentina a secondary option at this point as at this point it would be a heavily reduced salary.

Lorenzo Pellegrini’s contract is also expiring this summer, and Gasperini would like for the former captain to stay. So far the club is offering to renew him for 1/3 of his current salary, but things might change with Gasp staying on board now.

On the plusvalenza front Pas reports that Manu Kone and Evan Ndicka are more likely to leave rather than Matias Soule and Mile Svilar.

For the many loan players currently in the squad none of them are likely to be redeemed and this goes as well for veteran Stephan El Shaarawy.

Lastly, there’s Zeki Celik, who has been negotiating with other teams for weeks. Gasperini would still like for him to stay, but what the club’s offering and what Celik wants is still a fair distance away.
