AS Roma Target Internacional Left-Back Alexandro Bernabei

AS Roma have begun exploring the South American market once again as the club searches for reinforcements ahead of next season, with Internacional full-back Alexandro Bernabei emerging as a concrete target.

According to reports from Italy, the Giallorossi are actively looking for a new left-sided player following a difficult season in that area of the squad. Angeliño spent much of the campaign sidelined through injury, while Kostas Tsimikas is expected to return to Liverpool FC after his loan spell in Rome. Wesley França, meanwhile, is likely to move back to his preferred role on the right flank next season.

Bernabei Fits Gasperini’s Tactical Vision

Roma believe Bernabei could be an ideal fit for the tactical system of head coach Gian Piero Gasperini.

The Argentine left-back has impressed with SC Internacional this season thanks to his balance between attacking contribution and defensive reliability. The 25-year-old has scored six goals and provided two assists in 20 appearances, numbers that have attracted growing attention from clubs across Europe.

Bernabei previously played in Europe with Celtic FC before returning to South America, and his experience abroad is viewed positively by Roma’s scouting department.

Roma Scouts Active in Brazil

Roma’s interest in Bernabei is part of a broader scouting strategy that has recently expanded into Brazil and South America.

The club’s scouts have already been active in Germany, France, and Turkey in recent weeks, while Brazil has become another key market for the Giallorossi following the success of Wesley.

Reports indicate that Bernabei’s agents are currently in Porto Alegre and are expected to meet with Internacional officials soon to discuss the player’s future. Roma are closely monitoring those developments.

Transfer Valuation Around €8–9 Million

Internacional are believed to value Bernabei between €8 million and €9 million, although some reports suggest the asking price could rise closer to €10 million if interest from European clubs intensifies.

For Roma, the player represents a relatively affordable market opportunity compared to more established names in Europe, especially given his age profile, experience, and attacking production from the left-back position.
