Roma Sporting Director Shake-Up: Giovanni Manna Targeted as Ricky Massara Draws Marseille Interest

By: Marco De Marinis

According to journalist Matteo Moretto, the Giallorossi ownership is actively evaluating several profiles for the role of sporting director, with Giovanni Manna remaining one of the most highly regarded candidates to take control of Roma’s transfer strategy moving forward.

However, the situation also involves the future of current sporting director Ricky Massara, who is now attracting serious interest from Olympique de Marseille.

Roma Continue to Push for Giovanni Manna

Inside Trigoria, Roma’s ownership is reportedly already working through a shortlist of executives capable of leading the club’s next sporting cycle.

Manna, currently with SSC Napoli, remains among the most appreciated names under consideration, although he is not the only profile being evaluated.

The Friedkin ownership sees the appointment of a strong sporting director as one of the key foundations for the next phase of the project, particularly with head coach Gian Piero Gasperini expected to play a central role in shaping the squad.

Recent reports have suggested Roma are prepared to make a major financial effort to convince Manna to join the club.

Massara Emerges as Marseille Target

The biggest development, however, concerns Massara’s future.

According to Matteo Moretto, the Roma executive has been included on a very short list of candidates to become the new sporting director of Olympique de Marseille following the club’s separation from Pablo Longoria.

The French side is currently searching for a new leader for its sporting department, and contacts between the parties have reportedly already begun.

Massara is viewed internally by Marseille as one of the strongest profiles available on the market, with the club’s hierarchy holding him in very high regard.
