Niccolò Pisilli is reportedly the favorite to start ahead of Matías Soulé in Roma’s attacking lineup for the Derby della Capitale against Lazio.
According to reports from Italy, Gian Piero Gasperini has already decided on two-thirds of his attack, with Paulo Dybala and Donyell Malen expected to start from the opening whistle. The final spot is currently between Niccolò Pisilli and Matías Soulé, with the Roman-born midfielder holding a slight advantage.
If Pisilli gets the nod, Bryan Cristante could be pushed further forward to help limit Lazio playmaker Nicolò Rovella, while Pisilli would partner Manu Koné in midfield. Gasperini reportedly wants to maintain the tactical balance that helped Roma defeat Parma and Fiorentina in recent weeks.
Soulé, meanwhile, is still working his way back to top form after recent physical issues and may be used as an impact substitute during the second half.
The possible inclusion of Pisilli reflects the growing trust Gasperini has placed in the 21-year-old academy product, who has become one of Roma’s breakout performers this season. Supporters have increasingly praised his intensity, discipline, and connection to the club, especially after several strong recent performances in Serie A.
