Sogliano Emerging as Favorite for Roma Sporting Director Role

Sean Sogliano is increasingly becoming the leading candidate to become Roma’s next sporting director as Giovanni Manna appears to be moving further away from the club.

According to Matteo Moretto, Roma’s interest in the current Hellas Verona executive has intensified in recent days due to both his strong relationship with Gian Piero Gasperini and the growing complications surrounding a deal for Manna.

The Friedkin ownership continues to admire Manna and has reportedly made new attempts to convince Napoli to release him. However, Aurelio De Laurentiis remains firm in his refusal to let the sporting director leave, while Napoli are even said to be discussing a renewal with him.

With Tony D’Amico increasingly linked to Milan, Roma are now accelerating discussions around alternative profiles. Sogliano’s candidacy has gained momentum partly because of his history with Gasperini dating back to their experiences at Genoa and Palermo. The Verona director has not yet renewed his contract and could be open to what many in Italy view as a major career step forward.

Other names still under consideration reportedly include Ramon Planes, but the Friedkin’s reportedly want an Italian name
