Devis Vasquez will be returning to Rome after Besiktas decided not to exercise their purchase option for the Colombian goalkeeper. According to reports from Italy, the Turkish club will not keep the 27-year-old following the end of his loan spell.
Vasquez joined Roma on a free transfer last summer as a backup option for Mile Svilar before being loaned out to Besiktas during the January transfer window. The agreement included an option to buy, but the Turkish side ultimately chose against making the move permanent.
The goalkeeper made just one appearance during his time in Turkey, keeping a clean sheet against Karagümrük, but failed to secure a regular role in the squad.
Roma are now expected to look for another solution for Vasquez this summer, as the player does not appear to be part of Gian Piero Gasperini’s long-term plans. The Giallorossi hope to secure a transfer that would generate a capital gain after signing the goalkeeper at no cost.
