The summit for Paulo Dybala’s contract renewal has been postponed by a week. The Friedkin family has asked for a few more days of patience, because the potential qualification for the Champions League requires the club’s full focus.
During his weekend in Rome, agent Carlos Novel attended the derby but did not meet the ownership: discussions with Ryan continue via chat, at least for this week. The millions guaranteed by Champions League qualification would change a lot, but in any case the club does not intend to go beyond €3 million for the Argentine’s salary.
Dybala, meanwhile, is waiting: his priority is to stay, but he was expecting a bit more movement from the club. There’s still doubt on both sides if there’s enough compromise that an agreement can be reached.
The squad was surprised by the sudden departure of El Shaarawy; they expected it to happen in a different way and timeframe. At the moment, Dybala is focused on the final league match; he appreciated the renewed presence of the ownership. A shared feeling: everyone in the dressing room would like this to be the norm, not the exception.
