Roma Offered Rafael Leão Opportunity Ahead of Summer Window

A surprising new name has emerged on Roma’s radar ahead of the summer transfer window: Rafael Leão.

According to a report from ReteSport, the Portuguese star has been proposed to AS Roma in recent days as the club evaluates potential attacking reinforcements for Gian Piero Gasperini’s new project.

At the moment the situation is still in the early stages and no formal negotiations have begun. However, the possibility of Leão leaving AC Milan this summer is no longer being ruled out amid ongoing uncertainty surrounding his long-term future at the club.

Roma are continuing to explore several high-profile attacking options as they prepare for what could become a transformative transfer window, especially if Champions League qualification is secured. Gasperini is believed to want more pace, explosiveness, and one-on-one quality in the final third — characteristics that perfectly match Leão’s profile.

Any potential move would still be extremely complicated financially. Milan would demand a massive fee for the Portuguese international, while Leão’s salary would also represent a major obstacle for Roma under the club’s current wage structure.

Still, the fact that the player’s name has been discussed internally highlights the ambition growing around Roma’s summer plans under the Friedkin ownership and Gasperini.
