Final 90 minutes of the season are upon us and Roma need a win to turn a dream into reality.
Gasperini has kept the squad fully focused ahead of the match against already-relegated Verona, a side that has still shown in recent weeks that it can trouble any opponent in the final stretch of the season. The message from within the camp is simple: one more push. One final step to continue their growth and secure Champions League qualification, which Roma have been chasing and have now brought within reach on the pitch.
However, Roma head into this decisive fixture without several key players. Among the most significant absentees is Brazilian full-back Wesley, a key figure in the run-in, who is suspended after being sent off in the derby.
He will be replaced in Verona by Rensch, one of the standout performers from the Parma match. With Angeliño never seriously in contention and Tsimikas also unavailable due to tonsillitis, Roma are short of options on the left side.
Soule is also expected to start in a trident with Donyell Malen and Paulo Dybala to ensure the teams ready to attack from the start.
Ndicka, who was injured against Lazio, and Pellegrini are also unavailable. Both have travelled with the squad to Veneto to support their teammates from the stands. In defence, the Ivorian’s absence will be covered by Ghilardi, the former Verona player, who is expected to start on the right side of the back three. Mancini will move into the central role, with Hermoso shifting to the left.
Koné has recovered but is not yet fully fit and is expected to start on the bench. Gasperini still has one remaining midfield decision: whether to deploy Pisilli or El Aynaoui alongside Cristante.
