Pellegrini and Dybala to take massive pay cut for the love of Roma

Loyalty is becoming a rare thing in modern football, but at Roma, Lorenzo Pellegrini and Paulo Dybala are showing just how much the club means to them.

According to reports from Italy, both players are willing to accept major salary reductions in order to remain in the capital and continue under Gian Piero Gasperini’s new project.

Pellegrini, Roma’s captain and one of the club’s longest-serving players, currently earns around €6 million per season plus bonuses. However, he is reportedly open to cutting that figure in half, accepting a new three-year contract worth between €2.5 and €3 million annually.

The decision is especially significant considering Roma have secured Champions League football. In most situations, a player in Pellegrini’s position would be expected to ask for a higher salary, not a lower one. Instead, the midfielder appears fully committed to helping the club maintain financial stability while remaining at the center of the team’s future.

Paulo Dybala is expected to make an even bigger sacrifice. The Argentine star currently earns around €8 million net per season, but reports suggest he could lower his salary to roughly €3 million in a new two-year deal with an option for a third season.

The willingness from both players reflects the positive atmosphere developing around Roma ahead of the new campaign. Sources close to the club describe a strong connection between the squad and Gasperini, as well as a renewed belief in the Friedkin ownership group’s long-term ambitions.

Despite the need for player sales before the June 30 financial deadline confidence inside Trigoria remains high. The feeling within the club is that Roma are building toward something important — and the commitment shown by leaders like Pellegrini and Dybala is only strengthening that belief.
