From Albania: Roma close to signing Al-Ittihad’s Mitaj for €10m

While awaiting the official announcement of Tony D’Amico as the new sporting director, Roma continue working on building their squad for the 2026–27 season. After returning to the Champions League, the Giallorossi are expected to strengthen several areas of the team, not just the attack, which Gian Piero Gasperini has identified as a priority.

One of the positions that could see changes is the left flank. The return of Tsimikas to Liverpool and uncertainties surrounding Angelino’s fitness have prompted the club to consider new options at left-back. According to the Albanian outlet Markaj News, Roma are close to signing Mario Mitaj, the left-back currently playing for Al-Ittihad.

The 2003-born defender, who can also play in a more advanced role, is reportedly a profile appreciated by both the club’s management and coaching staff. According to the report, the deal could be completed for around €10 million. It is viewed as a sustainable investment for a young player who already has international experience.

The Albanian reports also claim that Gasperini has given his approval for the move.
