Svilar is now widely regarded as one of Roma’s key players and a cornerstone of the club’s new technical project. Decisive once again in the most recent match with his save on Bowie, the goalkeeper reaffirmed his quality after a standout season in which he recorded 18 clean sheets in the league and started 48 of Roma’s 49 matches.
Gasperini considers him one of only two certainties to build around, alongside Malen. Despite interest from several of Europe’s top clubs, Roma view him as untouchable and a vital part of both the present and future of the team.
Last summer, the club extended his contract until 2030, increasing his salary to €4 million per year. Having arrived from Benfica on a free transfer, his market value is now estimated at more than €50 million.
The issue of his international future, however, remains unresolved. After making his only appearance for Serbia in 2021, Svilar is still awaiting a solution that would allow him to represent Belgium at international level.
