Roma are shaping their squad again, starting from the wide areas, with Wesley, Devyne Rensch and Zeki Çelik as key figures.
Wesley is described as a “green-and-gold arrow” heading into his first World Cup. He took a short break in Brazil before joining Carlo Ancelotti’s staff after an exhausting season in which he played 68 matches between the Brazilian league, the Club World Cup, AS Roma and the national team. His performances in Serie A have been very impressive, and his market value is now estimated by CIES at between €50 and €58 million. Roma are already looking in South America for similar profiles.
On the right side, Çelik is also expected to be involved in the World Cup. His contract renewal talks are currently on hold until Tony D’Amico officially takes charge. There is still a €600,000 gap between what Roma offer and what the player wants, but he has rejected a return to Turkey and wants to stay, even though an agreement is not yet close.
On the left side, Kostas Tsimikas has already left, while Angelino will discuss his future with the club after returning from holiday. His situation is still undecided.
Another important piece is Devyne Rensch, who was an unexpected key player in Roma’s push for Champions League qualification.
Beyond Wesley, Roma still need a new starting wing-back. They like Dodo, but no serious negotiations are underway yet.
For the left side, the club is monitoring Edouard Methalie from Toulouse FC and Rafael Obrador, who belongs to Benfica.
