Roma-Genoa axis is heating up: Baldanzi and Frendrup could swap

Contract renewals, departures, and new signings: while Genoa’s players are already on holiday, the same cannot be said for the club’s management or coach Daniele De Rossi, who has frequently been at the Signorini training center in recent days to plan the squad ahead of the preseason camp in Moena this July.

Sporting director Diego López, currently in Spain, is also working on several key situations, starting with Tommaso Baldanzi. Genoa hold a €10 million option to buy the midfielder before June 15, and the club’s position is clear: they want to keep the player, but are hoping to negotiate a lower fee with Roma. Baldanzi struggled with injuries during the season and was only able to feature in nine of the club’s final 18 matches.

With a loan extension off the table and a permanent transfer the only option, Genoa must also take into account deals that have already been finalized. As a result, the Rossoblù will need to raise at least €40 million this summer in order to strengthen the squad under De Rossi.

According to TuttoSport, Roma have made enquiries about Morten Frendrup, and any potential negotiations could become linked to discussions involving Baldanzi.
