D’Amico Still Awaiting Official Roma Appointment

The last season appears to have left some marks on the relationship between Tony D’Amico and Atalanta. The appointments of Juric—especially, which proved to be a disaster—and Palladino were both his decisions.

Despite widespread expectations, D’Amico is not yet officially Roma’s new sporting director.

According to reports from Sky Sport and Alfredo Pedullà, the agreement between Roma and D’Amico has been in place for some time. However, the executive remains under contract with Atalanta, even after the Bergamo club officially appointed Fabio Paratici as their new sporting director.

As Sky Sport’s Paolo Assogna reported, the Percassi family is still waiting for a gesture of courtesy from Roma’s ownership to bring the matter to a close. Specifically, Atalanta’s leadership is said to be expecting direct contact—potentially a phone call—from the Friedkin family before finalizing D’Amico’s departure. This goes against earlier reports that Ryan Friedkin intervened already.

The situation is therefore viewed more as a matter of formalities and institutional relations than a negotiation over terms, with all parties continuing to work toward a definitive resolution.

Roma continue to wait with full confidence, but it has been clear for more than a week that Atalanta were in no rush to make a decision.
