AS Roma told Chelsea Mile Svilar isn’t for sale after the English club attempted to open negotiations for the Giallorossi goalkeeper. It was a firm response, leaving no room for interpretation, confirming how central the Belgian No. 1 is considered within the club’s technical project.
According to Corriere dello Sport, in recent hours Chelsea reportedly made a real blitz to try to bring one of the best goalkeepers of last Serie A season to London. On the table was an offer of around €50 million, a significant figure that nevertheless did not shake the stance of the Rome-based club.
The Friedkin ownership’s response was immediate: Mile Svilar is not for sale. The goalkeeper is regarded as one of the untouchable members of the squad and one of the pillars around which Roma intends to build both its present and future. This position is also shared by Gian Piero Gasperini, who has included the Belgian in the small group of players considered essential for the new Giallorossi cycle.
Despite the need to generate capital gains by June 30, the club has no intention of considering offers for its No. 1. However, financial requirements will still force Roma to make at least one major sale in the coming weeks. The most likely candidates to be put on the market remain Evan Ndicka, Manu Koné, and Matías Soulé. At least one of them could leave Trigoria to help the club meet its end-of-month financial targets.
The situation is completely different for Svilar. The club believes the goalkeeper’s value goes far beyond the financial aspect and considers his continued presence an absolute priority. For this reason, even an offer of €50 million was not enough to open negotiations. The line has been drawn: Roma may sacrifice some of its prized assets, but the goalkeeper who carried the team through last season is not among those available for transfer.
