Gasperini wants 16 players ready made starters for the squad: Scamacca out and Pinamonti a possibility

The D’Amico era at Roma is about to officially begin. Pending the formal clearance required for him to assume full sporting director responsibilities, tomorrow is expected to be the day of the long-awaited announcement confirming his arrival from Atalanta.

A busy agenda awaits the incoming executive, with transfer market planning, contract renewals, and player sales before the June 30 financial deadline all high on the priority list. Yesterday, D’Amico met with Atalanta officials in Bergamo to finalize the termination of his contract. Behind the scenes, however, work has already begun—largely because Gian Piero Gasperini is eager to accelerate Roma’s squad-building plans.

The Roma coach is reportedly pushing for a squad with at least 16 players capable of starting regularly, allowing the team to compete effectively on multiple fronts next season.

One of the key areas under discussion is the attack. Gasperini is expecting significant reinforcements capable of raising the overall quality of Roma’s forward line. At present, the only certainty in attack appears to be Donyell Malen. According to Il Messaggero, the Giallorossi are exploring opportunities in the transfer market to strengthen the department, with Artem Dovbyk potentially available for a permanent transfer and Robinio Vaz a possible loan option out of Rome.

A move for Gianluca Scamacca is currently not being considered. Meanwhile, Andrea Pinamonti—whose name has been put forward by agent Giuseppe Riso—remains a viable option and has not been ruled out. The Sassuolo striker finished the season with nine goals and four assists in 36 appearances, making him one of the profiles under evaluation by Roma’s management.
