Gualtieri Drops Major Roma Stadium Update: Construction Could Begin Within a Year

The Mayor of Rome, Roberto Gualtieri, spoke to Adn Talks about his work as mayor and, in particular, the project for Roma’s new stadium in Pietralata. These were his comments:

“The agreement between all the entities involved has been approved, making it possible to manage the entire process from authorization through to the construction of the stadium. The commissioner has signed the ordinance to finally launch the decisive services conference, and the authorization process will begin shortly.

This will allow us to meet the European deadline, which requires the procedure to be completed by a specific date in order to be considered for hosting matches at the European Championship in these stadiums. It will also enable construction to begin within a year, leading to the eventual completion of the stadium.”

The mayor then described the project’s urban impact:

“It will be a magnificent stadium, one of the most beautiful in the world. More importantly, it will not be just a stadium—it will also bring the redevelopment of an entire area, with extensive green spaces and enormous public parks.”
