Fiorentina Push for Volpato Deal as Roma Stand to Profit from €20M Transfer

Fiorentina continue to closely monitor Cristian Volpato. With Fabio Grosso officially appointed as the club’s new head coach, the Tuscan side are keen to satisfy his requests, as he is already familiar with the 2003-born talent from their shared time at Sassuolo.

According to Corriere dello Sport, Fiorentina have already made enquiries with Sassuolo to assess the financial parameters of a potential deal. Volpato is reportedly open to a move to Florence and has even been searching for a home in the city in recent months. The player’s valuation is believed to be in the €15–20 million range.

Roma are also following developments with close attention. When he was sold to Sassuolo, the Giallorossi retained a 15% sell-on clause, meaning they would be entitled to a percentage of any future transfer fee. Should the move materialise, Trigoria could therefore secure a significant financial return—an important boost also in terms of Financial Fair Play compliance.

Season overview

In his most recent campaign with Sassuolo, Volpato enjoyed greater continuity and playing time in Serie A, finishing with 24 appearances, 2 goals, and 4 assists. He also featured twice in the Coppa Italia, a season that confirmed the 2003-born midfielder’s steady development and growing influence at senior level.

These performances help explain Fiorentina’s strong interest, while Roma continue to track the situation closely, aware of the potential financial upside linked to their sell-on clause.
