According to Gaucha Esportes, Roma have set their sights on Vitor Reis Viery, with the Giallorossi reportedly sending scouts to Brazil to closely monitor the young Grêmio defender, who is considered one of the most promising talents in his age group.
The Roman club is working to build a competitive squad across multiple fronts. While the priority remains strengthening the attack, Roma also intend to preserve and reinforce a defensive unit that was one of the team’s most reliable departments last season.
With three competitions ahead, the management is aware of the need to expand squad depth and provide Gian Piero Gasperini with high-quality rotation options. It is in this context that Viery has emerged as a monitored profile for the future of Roma’s defence.
Competition for the Brazilian defender is already intense. Brighton, Newcastle, Tottenham, and Sunderland—clubs linked to former Roma sporting director Florent Ghisolfi—are also reportedly following the player closely. In Italy, Fiorentina and Juventus have also explored a move, although early approaches are said to have been rejected by Grêmio.
The Brazilian club has made its position clear regarding any potential transfer, valuing the defender at around €15 million plus a percentage of a future resale. At present, no advanced negotiations are underway, but Viery remains firmly on Roma’s scouting radar as they continue to track emerging defensive talents.
