Roma have officially appointed Tony D’Amico, and attention is now turning fully to the transfer market. Alongside several contract renewals, the club’s immediate priority remains complying with UEFA’s Settlement Agreement requirements.
Gian Piero Gasperini is keen to keep the core of the squad intact, even if it means sacrificing Matías Soulé to generate funds. However, Manu Koné remains a player who could attract offers too significant to ignore.
The French midfielder is viewed by Gasperini as one of the pillars around which Roma can build for their return to the Champions League, alongside Evan Ndicka. Unsurprisingly, his performances have drawn interest from several top European clubs.
While Koné has already turned down a move to Atlético Madrid, other opportunities could prove more tempting.
The 2001-born midfielder has long dreamed of playing for Paris Saint-Germain. Having grown up just outside Paris, the prospect of representing PSG at the Parc des Princes would be a special one. However, despite the player’s admiration for the club, PSG have yet to make a concrete move.
According to Corriere della Sera, Arsenal have now made initial contact with Koné’s entourage to explore the conditions of a potential deal. The midfielder is currently away with France at the World Cup, but the Premier League side have already begun gathering information.
Should one of Europe’s elite clubs decide to move forward, convincing Koné to stay could become increasingly difficult.
Meanwhile, Roma are already evaluating potential alternatives, with AC Milan midfielder Yunus Musah among the profiles appreciated by the club in the event of a departure.
