Paulo Dybala’s future at Roma remains open, with the Argentine forward now awaiting a response from the club following his counterproposal submitted around eight days ago.
The discussion between the two parties reportedly does not involve major differences on the base salary, which is expected to remain in the range of €2.5–3 million. The main points of negotiation instead concern performance-related bonuses, contract length, and image rights linked to Roma’s centenary project.
In particular, the bonus structure remains a key sticking point. Roma would prefer appearance-related incentives to be activated only when the player completes at least 45 minutes per match, while Dybala’s camp is pushing for a more flexible system not tied strictly to playing time.
The proposed contract length is also under discussion, with the current framework set at 1+1 years, alongside additional considerations regarding the use of Dybala’s image for club marketing initiatives during the centenary season — including the symbolic possibility of the player finishing his career in Rome.
A response from the club is now awaited. Roma management have already relayed the situation to owner Ryan Friedkin and are currently waiting for final approval from the ownership structure before responding to the player’s representatives.
The expectation within the club is that an answer will arrive by the end of the month, with optimism that an agreement can still be reached and Dybala will remain in the capital.
However, the situation has not been entirely smooth. The feeling that he is being treated as one option among many has reportedly not gone down well with “La Joya,” who has taken a step back in recent discussions.
The delays also reflect broader concerns within the club’s internal processes, an issue that has already been highlighted on several occasions during the season by Gian Piero Gasperini, who has pointed to the need for greater efficiency in key decision-making moments.
