Roma are pushing to make Tony D’Amico fully operational as sporting director as soon as possible, with the club eager to accelerate preparations for a crucial summer transfer window.
According to Corriere della Sera, the Giallorossi submitted a formal request for a waiver during the most recent Lega Serie A Council meeting. The objective is to allow D’Amico to officially begin his duties before July 1, the date on which his appointment would normally become effective following his departure from Atalanta.
The request is largely a procedural matter, as D’Amico has already been working closely with Gian Piero Gasperini and the club’s hierarchy behind the scenes to shape Roma’s plans for the upcoming season. However, obtaining official approval would allow him to operate without restrictions during one of the busiest and most important periods of the year.
Several key issues require immediate attention. Roma are working to finalise contract renewals, complete player sales needed to satisfy financial targets before June 30, and identify the reinforcements required to strengthen the squad ahead of their return to the Champions League.
With important decisions looming both on and off the pitch, the club hopes the relevant authorities will grant approval in the coming days.
Until then, D’Amico continues to collaborate with Gasperini and Roma’s management team, laying the foundations for what they hope will be a successful new era in the capital.
