Roma Stadium Project Enters Fast-Track Approval Process

The long-awaited process for the new AS Roma stadium in Pietralata has officially entered a decisive phase, with the approval procedure now set on an accelerated timeline.

According to Il Romanista, Extraordinary Commissioner for Euro32 Massimo Sessa has issued the first ordinance aimed at significantly speeding up the evaluation process for the project, which has been classified as being of national strategic interest.

The roadmap outlined for the approval is already defined in detail. It begins with five days allocated for document verification, followed by a further five days for any required additions. A 30-day period will then be dedicated to observations and general assessments from the relevant authorities.

Subsequently, AS Roma will have another 30 days to submit additional documentation and respond to any observations raised during the review phase. The process will conclude with a final 10-day session of the Services Conference.

The official objective set by the commissioner’s office is to reach a definitive conclusion by mid-September. However, there is an informal expectation within key institutional circles that the final approval could arrive even earlier, potentially as soon as August.

The acceleration of the process represents a significant step forward for a project that has been central to Roma’s long-term ambitions and would provide the club with a modern, sustainable stadium in line with international standards.
