Roma remain attentive to the situation of Pierre-Emile Højbjerg as Marseille continue to reshape their squad ahead of the new season, according to Corriere dello Sport.
The Danish midfielder, previously linked with several Serie A clubs, is once again attracting interest across Europe. Atalanta have recently intensified their monitoring of the player, with sporting director Cristiano Giuntoli reportedly holding talks with Højbjerg’s representatives and reaffirming his admiration for the former Tottenham midfielder.
Roma, however, are no strangers to the player’s profile. The Giallorossi had previously made enquiries about Højbjerg during Mehdi Benatia’s time at Marseille, identifying him as a versatile and experienced option for the midfield. Relations between Roma and the French club remain strong, which could facilitate future discussions should the opportunity arise.
Valued at around €13 million, Højbjerg remains an attractive market opportunity, although his salary continues to be a significant obstacle for interested clubs. With competition from both Italian and foreign sides, any potential move would require careful financial planning.
For now, Roma’s focus remains elsewhere, but Højbjerg is a name that continues to be appreciated within the club and could resurface if conditions become favorable later in the transfer window.
