Roma Summer Strategy Hinges on Major Sale as Soulé Situation with Dortmund Cools

Roma are preparing for a crucial summer window in which at least one significant outgoing transfer is expected to be necessary in order to balance the books and support incoming market operations, in line with Financial Fair Play requirements.

The Giallorossi’s strategy is now clearly defined: before accelerating on reinforcements, the club must first generate substantial revenue through player sales. This approach is central to Roma’s financial planning as they look to secure the resources needed for the upcoming transfer campaign.

Among the players potentially involved in outgoing negotiations is Matías Soulé, who has attracted interest from several European clubs. Roma have set their valuation for the Argentine winger at around €40 million, a figure that currently represents a major hurdle for potential suitors.

Borussia Dortmund are among the clubs closely monitoring the situation, according to La Gazzetta dello Sport. However, the German side’s traditional transfer policy could limit their ability to move decisively.

Dortmund have historically avoided major transfer fees, with rare exceptions such as €35 million for Ousmane Dembélé and €31 million for Sébastien Haller, preferring instead a model based on sustainable investments and player development.

This makes a potential move for Soulé a complex operation, and reports suggest that interest from the Bundesliga club has cooled for the moment. Despite this, Roma remain firm in their position and have no intention of lowering their asking price.
