The Superintendence has issued its opinion on AS Roma’s planned new stadium in Pietralata, recalling that archaeological investigations in the area are still underway.
The authority firmly reiterated a series of mandatory requirements, highlighting in particular the obligation to bring to light the Roman villa and other archaeological remains discovered on site. It stressed that appropriate protection and preservation measures must be adopted to safeguard the historical and cultural heritage uncovered during the works.
In addition, the Superintendence has formally confirmed its full and direct involvement in the Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) procedure, ensuring continued oversight throughout the approval and development process.
As reported by Alessio Di Francesco, the opinion underscores the ongoing balance between infrastructure development and the protection of archaeological heritage in one of Rome’s most sensitive areas.
