Roma Request Review of Archaeological Requirements for New Pietralata Stadium

Roma have formally asked the Superintendency to reconsider one of the key archaeological requirements linked to the construction of the club’s new stadium in Pietralata. The Giallorossi believe the measures already included in the project are sufficient to protect the archaeological remains discovered on the site.

According to Alessio Di Francesco, specifically, Roma have requested a review of the obligation to fully excavate and bring to light the entire Roman villa located within the project area. Instead, the club is proposing a more targeted approach, carrying out excavations only where they are deemed necessary while preserving the site’s archaeological heritage.

The request forms part of the ongoing approval process for the new stadium, with Roma continuing to work alongside the relevant authorities to move the project forward. The Superintendency will now evaluate the club’s proposal before deciding whether to modify the current archaeological requirements.
