Patrick Vieira Hails Roma’s Manu Koné: “France’s Best Midfielder Right Now”

Manu Koné continues to impress at the World Cup with France, and his recent performances have earned high praise from one of the country’s greatest midfielders.

After starting the tournament on the bench against Senegal, the Roma star has taken control of Les Bleus’ midfield in the last two matches, delivering two commanding displays.

Speaking to ITV, French legend Patrick Vieira hailed Koné as the country’s standout midfielder.

“He came into the World Cup after a couple of injuries and it hasn’t been an easy season. But for me, he’s the best midfielder in France right now.”

Vieira went even further by ranking the Roma midfielder ahead of Aurélien Tchouaméni and Adrien Rabiot.

“I’d put him ahead of Tchouaméni and Rabiot because he covers more ground in midfield. He’s aggressive, wins so many balls back, breaks the lines and has something extra compared to the others. Tchouaméni sometimes plays the ball backwards too often—Koné plays forward.”

Vieira’s glowing endorsement comes at a time when Koné’s future remains the subject of transfer speculation, with several top European clubs monitoring the 24-year-old after an impressive debut season at Roma.
