Italy’s Under-19 side made a winning start to the UEFA European Championship, defeating Serbia 2-0 in their opening group-stage match in Wales.
Goals from Mattia Liberali and Jamal Idrissou secured all three points for Alberto Bollini’s side, who began their campaign in impressive fashion.
Roma youngster Federico Nardin played a key role in the victory, completing the full 90 minutes as part of a disciplined Italian performance. The midfielder was one of two Giallorossi players selected for the tournament.
Fellow Roma talent Antonio Arena was also included in the squad but was not involved in the matchday lineup for the opening fixture.
Italy will now look to build on their strong start as they continue their quest for the European Under-19 title, with Nardin hoping to remain a key figure in Bollini’s team.
