Roma’s failure to fully comply with the financial targets set by UEFA’s Settlement Agreement by the June 30 deadline is now a reality. However, the club may still have an opportunity to avoid the immediate consequences.
According to Corriere dello Sport, UEFA has granted clubs under financial scrutiny the possibility of benefiting from an extension until July 30, acknowledging that the ongoing FIFA World Cup has complicated transfer negotiations and made it more difficult to complete major deals before the end of June.
If Roma are able to take advantage of the extension and complete the necessary business before the new deadline, the club could avoid the financial penalties and sporting restrictions that would otherwise result from failing to meet the Settlement Agreement’s requirements.
The Giallorossi remain in dialogue with UEFA as they explore the available options, with the extension representing a tangible opportunity to improve their financial position before sanctions are determined.
Roma are now expected to continue working on outgoing transfers throughout July as they look to satisfy UEFA’s conditions while preserving the core of Gian Piero Gasperini’s squad.
