Roma could receive a significant boost in their efforts to comply with UEFA’s financial regulations, as the possibility of a one-month extension for recording capital gains has become increasingly concrete.
According to Corriere dello Sport, the proposed extension would not alter the June 30 deadline for closing the club’s financial statements. Instead, it would apply to the calculation of aggregated losses, giving clubs additional time to complete transfer operations that count toward UEFA’s financial assessments.
For Roma, the distinction is crucial. Under the terms of the club’s Settlement Agreement, the Giallorossi must keep their aggregated losses below €60 million across the three-year monitoring period.
If approved, the extension could provide Roma with greater flexibility in completing player sales and managing their financial position, potentially easing the pressure surrounding the capital gains targets that dominated the end of June.
While no final decision has yet been confirmed, the development offers hope that clubs competing in the FIFA Club World Cup era will be granted additional time to complete key transfer business without immediately breaching UEFA’s financial limits.
