Bruno Conti Shares Emotional Farewell Letter to Roma

Roma legend Bruno Conti has bid an emotional farewell to the club after more than five decades of service, sharing a heartfelt letter with supporters on Instagram reflecting on his extraordinary journey in the Giallorossi colours.

From his Serie A debut in 1974 to his final match as a player in 1991 and his decades of work within the club, Conti thanked everyone who shaped his career, including his family, teammates, coaches, club staff and the six Roma presidents he served under.

Below is Conti’s full farewell message:

“The first photo is the one from my Serie A debut, Roma-Torino on February 10, 1974. On that day, alongside my joy, there was above all my father’s, a great Romanista fan. To him and my mother, I want to say thank you for all the sacrifices they made to raise seven children, always giving us love, values, and support.

The last photo on the field is from May 23, 1991, the day of my farewell to playing football. Seeing more than eighty thousand people in the stadium and finding myself kneeling under the Curva Sud is an image I’ll carry in my heart forever.

To you, who accompanied me on this journey, I can only say thank you.

A special thank you goes to all the people who have worked and still work every day for Roma: from the doormen to the storekeepers, from the drivers to the boarding school, from the technical staff to the secretariat, all the way to the scouts. If I wasn’t able to greet everyone personally, I apologize, but you know why: I’ve always been quick to tears.

Thanks to my great captain, Agostino Di Bartolomei, for how he welcomed me from the very first day, making me feel immediately part of a family.

Thanks to Presidents Dino Viola, Gaetano Anzalone, Franco Sensi, Rosella Sensi, James Pallotta, and Dan Friedkin for the trust and support received over the years.

A special thanks to my great master Nils Liedholm and President Dino Viola: together we lived unforgettable moments, winning a Scudetto and reaching the Champions Cup final.

Rosella, thank you for the years spent together, first as a coach and then as technical director. I love you.

I’ve chosen to send these thanks because I don’t want to talk about myself: I leave it to you to do that. I can only say that, right or wrong, everything I’ve done, I’ve done out of love for Roma.

Now it’s time to enjoy my family, who with love and patience have always been by my side throughout the journey. Because after football, the most beautiful place to return to is always family.

See you at the stadium, always cheering for our beloved AS Roma.

With Love, Bruno.
