Lorenzo Pellegrini is waiting to finalize his contract renewal with Roma, with talks expected to continue in the coming days.
The midfielder is currently a free agent after the expiry of his previous deal, but he is expected at Trigoria on July 13 for the start of pre-season training under Gian Piero Gasperini.
Pellegrini remains important to the new Roma coach, who has asked for the player to stay despite the club’s plans to strengthen the attack with two new starters behind Donyell Malen. His role in the squad could change, but his presence is still considered useful.
The player’s agent has already held an initial meeting with sporting director Tony D’Amico, and both sides are working toward a final agreement.
According to Corriere della Sera, there is still a gap of around €500,000 between offer and demand, but Pellegrini’s priority remains to stay in the capital. The goal is to close the deal before the start of training camp, allowing the Roma number 7 to focus fully on the new season.
