Roma’s new stadium project in Pietralata continues to move forward, with the administrative process now reaching a decisive phase.
Rome mayor Roberto Gualtieri recently confirmed the progress, stating: “We are at the decision-making stage of the Conference of Services for the Roma stadium in Pietralata. It will not only be a wonderful stadium, but also the redevelopment of an entire quadrant of the city. Let’s move forward.”
According to Il Messaggero, there has also been another legal development involving the land where the stadium is set to be built. One of the occupiers of the Pietralata area has been ordered by the Second Section of the Civil Court of Rome to pay just under €314,000.
The amount includes around €219,500 in damages and additional legal fees, following years of illegal occupation of land owned by the City of Rome.
The report explains that the families occupying parts of the Pietralata area did not own the land, but only held it temporarily, with an obligation to vacate it when requested by the Capitoline administration.
The attempted legal actions against the stadium project were unsuccessful, and the plaintiffs later sought to withdraw the case. However, the waiver needed to be accepted by the opposing party, and the City of Rome rejected it.
For Roma, the ruling represents another step in clearing the path toward construction, as the club and the city continue working toward the start of the long-awaited stadium project.
