Paulo Dybala is set to continue his career with Roma, with the official announcement of his contract renewal expected in the coming days.
The Argentine forward will remain in the capital, as requested by Gian Piero Gasperini, who wants the number 21 to be part of his project ahead of Roma’s return to the Champions League.
The news has also reached Leandro Paredes, who had hoped to convince Dybala to consider a move to Boca Juniors.
Speaking after Argentina’s 3-2 World Cup win over Egypt, the former Roma midfielder admitted he had discussed the situation with his national teammate.
“I’ve spoken a lot with him over the past few months,” Paredes said. “An extension with Roma was one of the options in his contract, and he was even thinking about it.”
Paredes then wished Dybala well as he prepares to stay with the Giallorossi.
“His life is very peaceful there,” he added. “So I wish him nothing but the best because he’s an exceptional guy.”
For Roma, Dybala’s renewal represents another major internal move as the club continues to secure key players for Gasperini’s first season.
