Roma’s new stadium project in Pietralata is moving closer to a decisive stage.
Speaking to Adnkronos, Alessandro Onorato, Rome Capital’s councilor for Sports and Major Events, said the project is now approaching the home stretch.
“The Giallorossi stadium that will rise in Pietralata seems to me to be in the home stretch,” Onorato said. “There too, with the mayor and the administration, we have all shown great efficiency.”
Onorato also stressed the importance of finally delivering new sports infrastructure in Italy, where stadium projects are often discussed but rarely completed.
“I believe sports facilities need to be built,” he added. “People talk about it all over Italy and they never get done. We are showing that you can set aside the nos and make some yeses that respect the rules.”
The current timeline points to the first stone being laid in 2027, with the objective of completing Roma’s new stadium by 2030.
