Alejandro Garnacho continues to be one of the most talked-about names in Roma’s search for a new winger, but the structure of any potential deal remains the biggest obstacle.
According to Fabrizio Romano, the Giallorossi would currently only consider signing the Chelsea winger on loan, while the Premier League club are only willing to discuss a permanent transfer. As things stand, that difference in approach is preventing negotiations from progressing.
However, Alfredo Pedullà reports that the situation could evolve as early as next week, particularly regarding the formula of the deal. If Chelsea become more flexible later in the transfer window, Roma could be in a position to make a concrete move.
Pedullà also adds that Paulo Dybala is a major supporter of Garnacho’s potential arrival in the capital. The two Argentines share a close friendship, which could play a role if negotiations advance.
While Roma’s preference has been a loan, a permanent transfer cannot be completely ruled out. The fee Chelsea are seeking is understood to be in the same range as the budget Roma had previously set aside for the main attack target.
For now, Garnacho remains one of the club’s priority targets, with next week expected to provide greater clarity on whether the deal can become a realistic possibility.
Update from Fabrizio Romano:
According to Fabrizio Romano on DAZN Italia, Alejandro Garnacho would be open to a move to Roma and is intrigued by the opportunity to play in Serie A.
While Chelsea currently prefer a permanent transfer, the deal could become a realistic possibility later in the window if the club becomes willing to consider alternative formulas, such as a loan with an option or obligation to buy.
