Manchester United’s pursuit of Atalanta midfielder Ederson has reportedly come to an end, potentially opening the door for a move for Manu Koné.
According to Sky Sport, United had reached an agreement in principle for Ederson in a deal worth around €45 million, but the Premier League club ultimately decided not to complete the transfer.
The Red Devils remain in the market for midfield reinforcements, and Manu Koné is one of the players they admire most.
Roma are aware of the interest but will only consider offers of at least €50 million for the French midfielder. With United now back in the market after missing out on Ederson, Koné could become one of their leading alternatives in the coming weeks.
Update from TeamTalk:
Manchester United’s search for a new midfielder has taken a new turn, with Manu Koné now emerging as one of the club’s leading targets.
According to TEAMtalk, the Red Devils have identified the Roma midfielder as an ideal fit for Michael Carrick’s system, preferring the Frenchman over Eduardo Camavinga as they reshape their midfield.
The report comes after Manchester United’s proposed move for Ederson officially collapsed. The deal with Atalanta, which had appeared close to completion, is now off, forcing United to pursue alternative options.
Roma are expected to demand around £50 million for Koné, who continues to attract interest from across the Premier League. In addition to Manchester United, Liverpool, Chelsea, Arsenal, and Manchester City have all reportedly been informed of the midfielder’s availability through his representatives.
Koné remains one of Roma’s most valuable assets this summer, and any serious approach will have to meet the Giallorossi’s valuation.
