Gian Piero Gasperini

Il Romanista: Roma Ready for Pre-Season as Gasperini Prepares to Assess First Team and Youth Prospects

Roma’s 2026/27 season officially begins tomorrow as the squad reports to Trigoria for the start of pre-season under Gian Piero Gasperini.

According to Il Romanista, Gasperini will begin working with the players currently available while awaiting further reinforcements from the transfer market. The coach will also closely monitor several of Roma’s top academy talents, who will train alongside the first team during the opening phase of pre-season, albeit on separate pitches.

One of the standout youngsters is Mattia Guaglianone, the highly rated 2010-born prospect who has recently signed his first professional contract. While he will not officially join the senior squad, he will have the opportunity to impress Gasperini during training.

Roma’s summer schedule will include several friendly matches, beginning with local opposition before facing European clubs later this month. The Giallorossi are set to play Cannes on July 26, followed by Cardiff on August 1, Newport on August 4, Brighton on August 8, and Borussia Dortmund on August 15 as preparations for the new season gather pace.
