Matias Soulé’s future at Roma remains uncertain as Sunderland intensify their efforts to bring the Argentine winger to the Premier League.
After returning to Rome from his holiday in Argentina, Soulé is expected to report to Trigoria for the start of pre-season. However, his stay in the capital could be short-lived if negotiations accelerate.
According to The Northern Echo, Sunderland are currently the club showing the strongest interest in the 22-year-old. Roma value Soulé at around €35 million (£30 million), a fee the English side reportedly considers reasonable.
A key figure behind Sunderland’s pursuit is sporting director Florent Ghisolfi, who signed Soulé for Roma in the summer of 2024. Ghisolfi is now working to convince the Argentine to make the move to England, where he would also reunite with former Roma teammate Enzo Le Fée.
While no agreement has been reached, Sunderland’s interest appears to be the most concrete yet, making the coming weeks potentially decisive for Soulé’s future.
