Voetbalkrant: Roma Join Race for Celtic Midfielder Arne Engels

Roma continue to explore the transfer market as Gian Piero Gasperini awaits reinforcements following the start of pre-season at Trigoria.

While strengthening the wide attacking positions remains the club’s top priority, the Giallorossi are also evaluating options in midfield ahead of what promises to be a demanding campaign that includes Champions League football.

According to Belgian outlet Voetbalkrant, Arne Engels has emerged as one of the players on Roma’s shortlist. Sporting director Tony D’Amico is monitoring the Belgian midfielder alongside other targets such as Danilo Santos and Lamine Camara.

Roma’s interest in Engels comes amid growing competition across Europe. Nottingham Forest are also keen on the Celtic midfielder and reportedly view him as a potential replacement for Elliot Anderson, who recently joined Manchester City.

The report adds that Roma are preparing an initial approach in an attempt to move ahead of the competition, with Engels becoming an increasingly serious option as the club looks to strengthen its midfield this summer.
