Corriere dello Sport: Roma Push for Summerville and Moreira as New-Look Attack Takes Shape

Roma are accelerating their plans to reshape Gian Piero Gasperini’s attack, with Crysencio Summerville and Diego Moreira emerging as the club’s two priority winger targets.

According to Corriere dello Sport, the Giallorossi envision a young, dynamic front line built around Summerville on the left, Moreira on the right, and Donyell Malen leading the attack. The club also continues to monitor Nicolò Tresoldi, who could arrive as another option in the forward line.

The arrival of Ryan Friedkin in Rome is expected to provide fresh momentum to the club’s transfer strategy after Gasperini publicly called for quicker progress in the market. Sporting director Tony D’Amico is now focused on negotiations with West Ham and Strasbourg, hoping to make decisive progress on both deals this week.

Summerville remains Gasperini’s preferred target. Roma have maintained regular contact with the Dutch winger’s representatives, who also manage Malen and former Atalanta midfielder Teun Koopmeiners. The agency is currently in Rome for another transfer, making discussions with D’Amico even more frequent.

The player’s salary is not considered an issue. Summerville currently earns just over €1.5 million per season, and Roma are prepared to double that while keeping his wages within the club’s salary structure. The main obstacle is the transfer fee. West Ham continue to value the 23-year-old at more than €50 million, while Roma are willing to invest €35-40 million plus bonuses.

Moreira is also gaining momentum. The report states that the Belgian has moved ahead of Alejandro Garnacho, whose proposed transfer has cooled because of its overall cost. Moreira is viewed as a more sustainable investment thanks to his lower salary and significant potential. Strasbourg winger earns around €800,000 per season, and Roma believe a deal worth €35-40 million could prove valuable both on the pitch and financially.

Away from the transfer market, Lorenzo Pellegrini’s contract situation remains unresolved. The Roma captain is still technically without a contract, and his absence from the opening days of preseason has not gone unnoticed inside the dressing room. While the club continues to work on a renewal, it remains one of the most delicate issues at Trigoria.
