La Repubblica: Roma Closing In on Diego Moreira as Strasbourg Talks Continue

Roma are making significant progress in their pursuit of Diego Moreira, with the Belgian winger emerging as one of the club’s priority signings this summer.

According to La Repubblica, the Giallorossi are pushing to complete the deal as quickly as possible to give Gian Piero Gasperini another attacking option ahead of the new season.

Moreira, who can play as both a left wing-back and a winger, fits the profile Roma have been targeting. At 22 years old, he is viewed as a long-term investment with a transfer fee and salary that fall within the club’s financial plans.

Roma have submitted an offer worth €30 million plus bonuses, along with a 10% sell-on clause, to Strasbourg. The French club has lowered its asking price but is requesting a 20% share of any future sale instead.

Negotiations between the clubs remain ongoing, and further contacts are expected in the coming hours as both sides work to bridge the gap.

Roma have already reached an agreement with the player. According to the report, Moreira has accepted a contract worth €2 million per season, leaving the two clubs to finalize the remaining details before the transfer can be completed.

Update from Jacopo Aliprandi:

According to Corriere dello Sport’s Jacopo Aliprandi, Diego Moreira has moved ahead of Alejandro Garnacho on Roma’s shortlist.

Garnacho’s pursuit has cooled because of the high cost of the deal, while Moreira is viewed as a more attainable target thanks to his quality, affordable salary, and long-term potential.

Roma are prepared to invest between €35 million and €40 million to bring the Belgian winger to the capital.
