Ederson for Atalanta

Maurizio Sarri Rules Out Ederson Exit Amid Roma Interest

Roma may have identified Ederson as a potential replacement for Manu Koné, but a move now appears unlikely.

The Atalanta midfielder recently returned to Bergamo after his proposed transfer to Manchester United collapsed following a failed medical. According to recent reports, Atalanta are now considering offering the Brazilian a new contract.

Ederson had been linked with Roma in recent days as the Giallorossi prepare for the possible sale of Koné, who continues to attract interest from Premier League clubs including Manchester United and Chelsea.

Gian Piero Gasperini, who coached Ederson during his time at Atalanta, is known to be a strong admirer of the midfielder.

However, new Atalanta head coach Maurizio Sarri has made his intentions clear. Speaking at his introductory press conference, Sarri described Ederson as a key part of his plans for the new season.

“Ederson will return to the team. My concern was how he would feel about staying with us. Instead, he has shown maturity and a great desire to stay. He will be a pillar of this Atalanta.”

Sarri’s comments suggest Atalanta have no intention of letting the Brazilian leave, making any potential move from Roma significantly more difficult.
