Ederson for Atalanta

Roma Eye Ederson as Potential Replacement for Manu Koné

Roma are already planning for the possibility of losing Manu Koné this summer with reports in England suggesting Manchester United are closing in on an agreement for the French midfielder. A sale would help the Giallorossi balance their finances, but replacing one of their key midfielders will be a major challenge.

According to Tele Radio Stereo, Atalanta’s Ederson has emerged as one of the leading candidates to fill that role. The Brazilian thrived under Gian Piero Gasperini in Bergamo, and the Roma coach would welcome a reunion. Sporting director Tony D’Amico also knows the midfielder well from their time together at Atalanta.

A deal, however, would be far from straightforward. Relations between Roma and Atalanta have been strained in recent years making negotiations difficult. Ederson has also attracted interest from Newcastle, while Inter remain open to discussing his future if a suitable offer arrives after a proposed move to Manchester United collapsed following a failed medical.

Should Koné depart, Roma are expected to explore a move for Ederson, but convincing Atalanta to sell will likely require meeting their full asking price.
