Roma’s hopes of signing Julian Brandt on a free transfer have suffered a setback as Premier League clubs have accelerated their interest in the Borussia Dortmund midfielder.
According to Gianluca Di Marzio both Roma and Juventus had explored the possibility of signing the German playmaker when his contract expires.
Brandt was viewed as an attractive market opportunity thanks to his experience and ability to play across multiple attacking positions.
However, the situation has changed in recent hours.
Several Premier League clubs have stepped up their pursuit, with England now emerging as the most likely destination for the 29-year-old.
While Roma continue to search for attacking reinforcements, Brandt now appears increasingly unlikely to arrive in the Italian capital as Premier League interest gathers momentum.
