Roma Step Up Pursuit of Crysencio Summerville as Talks Continue

Roma have made Crysencio Summerville their top attacking target and are now stepping up efforts to bring the West Ham winger to the Italian capital.

According to Matteo Moretto, the Giallorossi are working to find an agreement for the 2001-born Dutch international, who has emerged as Gian Piero Gasperini’s preferred addition in attack. Before opening formal negotiations with West Ham, however, Roma must first reach an agreement on personal terms with the player.

This is the key element currently missing to send the negotiations into the next phase as the green light from the player is still missing.

The proposed deal is expected to be worth around €45 million reflecting Roma’s belief that Summerville can become a key figure in Gasperini’s new-look attack. The club is hoping to move quickly with a deadline of July 21 to determine whether the transfer can be completed.

Summerville impressed during the Club World Cup scoring twice and providing two assists before his side’s elimination to Morocco. His existing chemistry with fellow Dutch international Donyell Malen is viewed as another factor in Roma’s interest.

Manchester United had also been linked with Summerville, but their pursuit has cooled as the Premier League side must first offload Marcus Rashford before making another move for a winger. That could leave the door open for Roma to push ahead with one of their priority targets this summer.

From Il Tempo:

Negotiations between Roma and West Ham for Crysencio Summerville are ongoing, with the Dutch winger remaining the Giallorossi’s top attacking target.

According to Il Tempo and Lorenzo Pes there is still a significant gap between the clubs as West Ham are demanding €50 million while Roma continue to work on the deal.

Personal terms have also yet to be agreed with Summerville reportedly seeking a salary of around €5 million per season.

Despite the differences, Roma remain in constant contact with the player’s entourage as talks continue.

From Corriere dello Sport:

Roma continue to make progress in their pursuit of Crysencio Summerville with the latest talks focused on the winger’s salary.

According to Corriere dello Sport, the Giallorossi discussed personal terms with the Dutchman’s representatives during Tuesday’s meeting.

Roma have increased their offer to €4 million per season but are unlikely to go any higher.

An agreement with West Ham, meanwhile, is considered achievable as negotiations continue.
