Roma have taken a major step forward in their pursuit of Crysencio Summerville, with the Dutch winger now reportedly open to joining the Giallorossi.
According to Matteo Moretto, Summerville has given the green light to a move after becoming Gian Piero Gasperini’s top attacking target following Roma’s failure to sign Mason Greenwood. The 2001-born winger is currently on holiday after the Netherlands’ World Cup exit, and his decision was expected in the next few hours.
Roma are now close to reaching a full agreement with the player’s representatives. As part of the club’s wage policy Summerville is not expected to earn more than €4 million per season, which is in line with the Friedkin ownership’s salary cap.
With personal terms nearing completion attention will now turn to negotiations with West Ham United. Following the Hammers’ relegation to the Championship, Summerville is understood to have a €45 million release clause.
Roma hope to strike a deal for a lower fixed fee targeting a package worth around €40 million plus €5 million in bonuses. However, the Giallorossi know they must move quickly to avoid interest from other clubs, particularly from the Premier League.
After positive progress with the player, Roma are now preparing for the decisive stage of negotiations with West Ham.
